DG Class 9 (UN 3536) | Intermodal rail + truck | 23 days

We arranged an intermodal shipment of energy storage equipment from Shanghai, China, to the Kyiv region, Ukraine, combining sea arrival, rail, and inland trucking. The priority was to maintain full control over heavy, oversized DG cargo across multiple transshipment points — within a limited delivery window.

  • Route / mode: Shanghai (CN) → Gdansk (PL) → rail → MOST railway terminal → truck delivery to the Kyiv region (UA)
  • Mode: Intermodal (railway + truck), with sea arrival to Gdansk
  • Transit time: 23 transit days
  • Transshipment: three times (Gdansk: vessel → yard; yard → rail; MOST terminal: rail → container trucks)
  • Cargo: energy storage systems, energy storage converters & spare parts
  • DG: energy storage systems — Class 9, UN 3536
  • Units (main cargo): 16 energy storage systems (26,700 kg each) + 4 energy storage converters (19,690 kg each)
  • Packaging: tent cover for main units; wooden cases & pallets for spare parts (incl. 2×40HC for part of the spares)
  • Stackability / temperature: non-stackable; no temperature requirements
  • Time constraint: delivery required by end of 2024

With extremely heavy dimensions, route design and transshipment control were critical. We coordinated three reloading stages and maintained process discipline at each handover point — from port handling in Gdansk to rail operations and final low-risk road delivery from the MOST terminal.

The result was a controlled intermodal move completed in 23 transit days, keeping oversized DG cargo on schedule within the required delivery timeframe.
